Breathing Life Into New Alien Creatures & Droids
I had a lot of fun creating a ton of creature and droid sounds for a lot of new additions to the Star Wars universe, even getting to name one of them! Through recording, processing, and having my cat star in a few recordings, I handled all of the audio for the Bilemaw, Shiverpede, Jedha Glider, and the Scavenger Droid, as well as providing original sounds for iteration on the Gorger and Skitron! |
Every Movement Accounted For
By far, my largest contribution to the game was to completely rework the foley system from Jedi: Fallen Order to push it to the point of almost regretting creating that much work. I ran multiple full day foley sessions with our outsourced foley team to capture several different clothing types from head to toe, as well as a huge variety of footstep and hand effects. For implementation, I had full access to the Cal's movement states and was able to do some pretty neat things! For a quick example, none of Cal's jump lands are tagged on an animation, but instead tagged on the call of hitting IK after coming from a fall. In a falling-state blueprint, I created a surface probe and got z-velocity data to not only play the right surface sound for the ground Cal is landing on, but also how hard his landing is, adding more variety to differently heighted falls! |
No Stone Left Unturned
I also handled a lot of the environmental audio in the Koboh hub valley! From ambient insects and birdcalls, rockfalls and debris, to the sound of sand hitting the sides of the buildings in town, I covered nearly every inch of space of the Koboh hub. To keep this place feeling fresh, I utilized trigger boxes and ambient emitters that would change depending on your game state, making your trek through the valley interesting as your journey progressed! (Fun fact - there are over 1800 hand placed emitters throughout the valley here, all handled through rigorous implementation in loading zones to save on performance!) |
Send Me A Message!
Got any questions about my work? Want to work with me? Any good stories? Funny jokes? Feel free to message me about anything on your mind! I dig talking to people just as much as I dig creating sounds for giant dragons or awesome spells. And I really dig making sounds for giant, terrifying creatures and super-awesome looking spells. |
